Why is it so important to others to be able to air their own opinions? Especially negative ones?

What is the human obsession with being able to run off at the mouth? What does it help? Especially negative opinions? Has spewing a negative opinion of someone ever helped?

  1. I hear what you are saying. But everyone has the right to "mouth off" - something to do with the "Freedom of Speech" I believe (even recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights). It would just be far more productive if negative opinions were constructive too - unfortunately not everyone has the nous to do that.
