What is the deal with everyone and their opinions of religion?

I do not think everyone should openly have their opinions on religion. Why does it matter what you believe? Keep it to yourself and don't be so opinionated! I'm tired of people thinking that Pentecosts are all just for the hype and excitement of a service. We're not at church for just one thing. You go to church to worship God and listen to a good message. So...if you ARE going to talk about religion then at least get the facts of the religion right.

Public Comments

  1. People are discussing religion in the religion section? OUTRAGEOUS!
  2. If you don't want to share or have shared opinions on religion, there's the door...or maybe you should just go sit at the kiddies' table, so the grownups can talk in peace...
  3. I'll keep my opinions about religion to myself when i'm not hassled by the religious and their opinions. Filthy religions do affect my life whether you want to admit it or not.
  4. By your logic, then... religion should keep it's nose out of cultural and political issues. Good. I'll leave organized religion alone when I can buy beer on a Sunday.
  5. You can't their are no facts in religion.
  6. Hey, keep your opinions about other peoples opinions to yourself. Geez!
  7. there is a big difference between stating opinions and being obnoxious when are they stating there opinions? in what context? please elaborate
  8. Unfortunately, you don't keep it to YOURSELF, so we're forced to deal with you.
  9. "I do not think everyone should openly have their opinions on religion" Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. If theists were willing to keep their religions to themselves, I'd keep my opinions about their religions to myself.
  10. WHY? that's not fair...everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions...how else will people know how dumb and stupid other people are.
  11. Sorry, hun. But, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen, better known as R & S. We're going to vocalize our opinions whether or not you like it.
  12. Scary churches always come out the worst when people have freedom of speech
  13. You're in the wrong place then. .
  14. Yeah, but shoving down your beliefs to someones throat is okey, Right!
  15. you know what... i think you're completely right. i have showed religious opinions on here, and i'm not going to anymore because it's actually quite outragous. yahoo answers is here to answer your questions, and not to insult you and your religion.
  16. I am an United States indigenous citizen and I have a right to express my opinion whether right or wrong. You believe in the supernatural or you believe in superstition and I don't. "The way to see by Faith is to shut the eye of Reason." [Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard, 1758] Let us agree to disagree, without us being disagreeable to anyone and then agree to be peaceful neighbors to everyone. 17. Wow. Either you need help or you're a troll.
  18. i got mine straight. there is no god. :) have a nice day!
  19. This is just a wild guess, but I think there would be less talk about opinions on religion somewhere other than the R&S section. I don't go to the dog section to tell people not to talk about dogs...
  20. People don't just deserve the FACTS OF LIFE, they deserve freedom after centuries of religious tyranny.
  21. You do realize this is R&S on Y!A, right? People give answers based on their own opinion here. You just gave your opinion about your church. What, exactly are you complaining about?
  22. You have your free will. Remember, God's great commission is not shutting up about God's will for us
  23. I think you're a little lost, sweetie. This is a discussion forum for asking and answering questions about religion and spirituality. Everything else is found in other sections. :))
  24. I have to agree with you. But there IS a small group of people on here that like to bash other religions without anything to back up their false claims. We just have to let them be as Jesus told his apostles to do when Pharisee's were out to just argue frivolous matters, they didn't want real answers about God or true worship, they only wanted to argue and waste other people's time. Just like this small sad group here on Yahoo Answers. They will continue telling lies, we don't have to listen to them! And anyone with a thinking mind won't waste their time believing them either. Let them be.
  25. I'm a Jehovah's Witness too (like a previous answerer said) & I agree with her statement & with what you said. People are just ignorant & blind or just plain rude & slanderous. Remember when this happens, they are only proving how closed minded people can be. They show how stupidity & nonsense rules their lives, not truth or common sense.
  26. Ok listen. When you say, "I do not think everyone should openly have their opinions on religion." I'm assuming that you mean people shouldn't openly express their thoughts on religion?? Sort of like the old adage "never discuss religion and politics?" Here's the problem. Discussing religion (in the sense of trying to seek out Ultimate Truth) and politics (the decisions that affect our lives) are probably the only two significant issues to be discussed. Now none of this should be discussed in the spirit of anger or bitterness because 1. Life's far too short to be angry and 2. If you're trying to convince someone of a cause you're more likely to do so with a genuine openness. I agree that when people are strictly speaking just stating an opinion then yes they should either identify it as an opinion or just keep it to themselves. I had a couple "Born-Agains" tell me that I was going to hell which for one it is entirely presumptuous on their part and secondarily given their stance of ignorance I could've already agreed to the same pact they had. However, within the context of any one religion after the inital, most primitive leaps of faith you can and have to utilize both reason and history in order to decipher truths about your faith. God did not just offer revelation alone, He expects that you use reason to further seek Truth, in whatever capacity it exists. So, calm down, just smile haha because life's too short to get so worked up. But do keep this in mind, your faith is a life long journey and keep yourself sincerely open to all mind sets. If you seek truth with precondition, (seeking it to prove yourself right), then you're not really seeking truth are you?
