How do you remove the monsoon radio system in a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg?

I have the key to remove the radio, but when I pull on it, it doesn't come all the way out because it is connected to something in the back. I was wondering if there was a trick to get it to come out. Also how do you remove the storage panel just above the radio so that I could install a cd player there?

1. I don't know of that car. However, contact Crutchfield. They've been taking apart cars for just such reasons. They have all the tools, know how, parts, & wiring kits to do just about any do it yourself job you can think of. G'luck!
