Radio? ?

I am having to compare two radio stations and need an insight into what kind of decisions are made when preparing a radio show. What things make a good radio station and help keep listeners interested? And what things put listeners off? How important is the role of presenter, and what makes a good presenter? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  1. Well I know for me that too much yakity yak is boring. I do like when dj's goof around with each other on the radio. I don't like so many commercials that it makes me want to change the station.
  2. Well the less ads the better for me, also less traffic and quick to the point news. I like to listen to funny presenters in the morning on my way to work, but with music inbetween. On my way home I just want music and no chat. Late at night I like chill out music.
  3. The most listened to ,despite possible parental repercussions, radio stations ever were probably the pirate stations (London and Caroline) which also had the most popular DJs of their time which were later poached by the BBC and LWT. Radio Luxembourg was avidly listened to at night by virtually every teenager in Britain that had access to a transistor radio. Radio London has recently reinvented itself and for the first time in 20 years i am now listening regularly to the radio again and so the format they use must be timeless.
