How can i keep a gold fish alive?
I want to have a fish in my room and i hear that gold fish are the easiest to keep alive but i have already killed 2. i dont know what im doing wrong, i change the water once a week and i use the de-chlorine stuff and only feed it twice a day. i gave up for a while but i want one again. i need an expert , is a gold fish the best thing or should i consider a different type. i dont want to deal with aquairiums or anything, just a fish that i can put into a fish bowl.

- A bowl is a death sentence for a gold fish. If you have no interest in a proper aquarium, go this route... http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103-4625321-3535019?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=aquarium+dvd&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go
- Get a Betta, goldfish cannot survive long in a bowl (as you've found out).
- next time read the instructions on the bottle that will tell u how much of that chlorine stuff to use and the type of food helps like tetra min and the size of the tank, the temp of the water and the stuff u add for decoration before u add that stuff wash them in soap and water and rinse all the soap off and keep your hands and fingers out of the water and dont tap the glass
- DEFINITELY 1. Not enough space (maybe get a littttle bit bigger bowl..?) 2. The fish isn't healthy (refrain from getting them inthose big quantity tanks at Petco or something. One word: DEATH) 3. Don't add too much food (the tank gets gross) 4. Get a snail? (You can get them for just 20 cents and they clean ur tank soo good.) 5. Tank decor (Plants, gravel. Makes them feel safe and secure, and if they cant go near or under something they get stressed) 6. Keep them in a place of room temperature (Not too hot, not too cold. It's really hard on them.) 7. Do you have pets that may walk by or look at them? If so, this may really stress them out) Overall, just get a healthy looking goldfish from somewhere that does't just sell them for other fish to eat.
- Fish Bowl = Dead Fish Get proper aquarium to keep your fish in.
- I say Beta fish. I had a blender that my fishes lived in (the motor and blades was taken out). I could keep anything in there except goldfish. I think it has something to do with water circulating or something. I tried the ones from Walmart, exchanged them several times (yes you can exchange dead fish for live if you bought them at Walmart and you have a receipt and its been less than three days.. they look at you funny because you have to bring the dead fish but they'll do it), and even some from the Petstore. I don't care what people say....goldfish are impossible to keep alive. I even started naming mine based on the fact that they would probably die. I named the last pair Hopes and Dreams and then when they died I could at least say I flushed my hopes and dreams down the toilet. After that I gave up and got the Beta. 2 years and he's still kickin'.
- well, i think a lot of it deppends on where you get the fish from we once got goldfish and kept them over night and i think that most of them died to ! But recentally i had a betta fish and i didn't have to have an aquairiam and he was as happy as could e so maybe you should try betta fish! god lick to you!
- Unfortunately there really isn’t a fish that will live in a bowl. A betta fish will survive, but it will be miserable. It will most likely just sit at the bottom and only come up for food. You might find her sort of boring. She will probably loose her vibrant colour. A goldfish will not survive in a fish bowl for too long. There is limited oxygen, and the ammonia, which is toxic to the goldfish, builds up too fast. They are just too dirty of a fish to keep without a filter. For a betta I would suggest purchasing a small 1 gallon, or half a gallon mini tank with an air supply pump. They have them quite cheap at places like WalMart. Do not use these for goldfish, they grow to about 12 inches, and live up to 15 years (fancy) and 20 (common). Yes those tiny little goldfish DO NOT stay tiny at all. When crammed into a tiny tank, she cannot grow and she will die.
- "How can i keep a gold fish alive?" Don't house him in a bowl. http://www.petfish.net/kb/entry/110/ http://www.petfish.net/kb/entry/104/ Betta fish do NOT need an air pump. They breathe surface air. However, I would give one more than a half gallon. A gallon at the very least.
- i would suggest a small habitat tank there about 8-10 bucks the a cheap filter gravel and decor bowl is 2 small
- You are killing the goldfish by putting them in bowls. There are not too many live things you can put in a bowl. You can try a betta, but if you don't clean it every other day it will also die early due to how dirty the water gets quckly. Most people prefer bettas in small filtered tanks(preferably five gallons, they are small and cute), they also look cute but stay cleaner and don't stink the way disgusting bowls do. If you don't want to deal with aquariums, the obviously you don't want a fish. (your goldfish suffocated in the bowl, they also get to be a foot long! and, you didnt clean it nearly enough since there was no filtration)
- to keep a gold fish alive and healthy you need a tank. If you don't want to deal with a tank, get a betta. Sorry that is how it works. Secondly, watch where you are buying fish. I hate to keep saying but Walmart is not the place to buy fish. Change stores. Although many goldfish live fine in bowls for a while, it really isn't the best place for them. Seriously I would get a beta if you really have to have a bowl. You will be much happier with a beta in a bowl.
