How can I find out if someone is on food stamps or receiving other assistance in Iowa?

I need to know how I can find out what kind of state assistance someone is getting in the state of Iowa. Is this under the freedom of information act? My husbands ex is receiving child support and lying about the monies she received and her working. And the kids are going without.

5. Whats that kind of information about a person got to do with you? And its hardly gonna come under the freedom of information act because it isn't public business and its got nothing to do with anyone except the person in question.

9. It is not covered under the Freedom of Information Act. The act prohibits release of any information in a personnel, medical, or similar file the release of which would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. Other than criminal activity, personal information is almost never covered in the Freedom of Information act.
10. If you feel the kids are going without many of the necessities of life and are being mistreated in any way I would contact the local DHS. As a teacher in Iowa, I have dealt with the DHS many times. In order for them to take you seriously, you need to make a strong case to them. Things such as having dirty torn clothes worn day after day, being under feed, neglect of children,etc. Documenting some of the things you have seen is the best way to go. I would also suggest calling the local HUD or food assistance office. They will not be able to give out the information on individual persons. You could ask general questions about what you could do if you feel someone is abusing the system. If she is getting child support, housing assis., and food stamps(In IA if one is getting food stamps they are most likely getting HUD assis.)... Why are the kids going without..Do you mean food and clean clothes? What is she doing with the money, using it all for herself?
