How to remove gold finish from a fake ring?

I have a ring (fake, of course) that's pretty cute. In some parts the gold has faded to a silver, and I was wondering if there was a way to take off the rest of the gold.

2. Have you got a jewellery cleaning solution? Doesn't work on all costume jewellery but may be worth a try. Take care if the ring has stones in it tho as the solution may loosen them.
