What do you do with your money in recession, possibly global recession?

I think U.S in already in recession. With dollar shrinking by the day and fear that the whole world might go down with the U.S, what do you do? Commodity prices are all time high too.

  1. if you think everythings going down the crapper invest in gold, it is used to determine currency basically, although you really aren't making any money when you take out inflation..
  2. I bought gold. Made money in 1 year and still holding while gold has increased daily
  3. Beware of the next "bubble", gold can be a safe investment up to a point, then that bubble will cause problems also. What goes up can come down, where will you be on this "roller coaster" ?
  4. Keep it saved, till the storm is over. Or if you have investment skills - consider an undervalued sector. As an example, its a good time to invest in property, as long as its long term.
  5. this is where people living in farm lands have an advantage. They can have food on the table without really spending too much. they plant veggies and raise live stock, they can be self reliant. so in a recession, we have to be self reliant. we must learn to minimize expenses, and try to invest your money wisely. recession sucks for many, but recession is opportunity for others. this is when you explore investments in real estate, this is the time when stock markets become buyers market.
