Suggestions on what to do around Grand Rapids MI?
My family's driving to Grand Haven and then staying at Grand Rapids for a couple of days. We're visiting the Meijer Gardens for one. Any suggestion for other fun interesting areas to visit while we're in Grand Rapids? We have 12 year old. I've done internet searching what I need are suggestions from people who actually been on some of the places being suggested around Grand Rapids MI. Thanks.

- I'd highly recommend to visit Grand Rapids Children's Museum (11 Sheldon Ne, Grand Rapids, 616-235-4726, www.grcm.org). The place is both exciting and educating for young kids and adults alike. Admission is very affordable. Two other big museums in G.R are: Gerald R Ford and Van Andel. They're OK, not great. John Ball Zoo (1300 W. Fulton St. , Grand Rapids, MI 49501) is second in my list. Honestly, I haven't been there recently, but I have read and heard a lot of good things about the improvements they have made in the past few years. Worth to check out. Next, Millenium Park (1415 Maynard Avenue SW Grand Rapids, MI 49534). A brand new park, very clean and well-maintained. There's always something for everyone: swimming, volley ball, fishing, biking, and walking. If you don't mind driving, go to the "Cereal City" in Battle Creek, about 45 miles south of Grand Rapids. (171 W. Michigan Ave., Battle Creek, MI). Owned by Kellog's, here you can tour the cereal plant, and learn how corn flakes are made. Lastly, if your family in to amusement park, Michigan Adventure (in Muskegon) is a fun place to go. It's basically a smaller version of Six Flags or Cedar Point: roller coasters, pools, circus, etc. Welcome to Grand Rapids, and I hope you have a pleasant time in your visit!
