What is the best way to get from Chicago to Grand Rapids without a car?
I go to school in Chicago, and I want to go visit my friend at Calvin College in Grand Rapids. What is the fastest way to get there without a car? I am a college student, so I can't afford to spend that much on tickets. Any suggestions?

- train. or bus. air is expensive
- Amtrak will cost about $90.00 round trip...2 trains. See below: http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?cid=1080072922209&pagename=Amtrak%2FPage%2FRoutes_Index_Page&c=Page Greyhound bus has service but advises to call ...800 231-2222 American Airlines has several flights. If you leave 10/10 and return 10/13 I found flights at $84.00 each way...other flights are +$400.00 each way. Taxes and fees will be added to fares. - well if its about the price then i would suggest swimming or walking but bring a fishing pole so you can catch fish and a lighter so you can cook the fish. If you get thirsty then you can just drink from the lake it's pretty clean. Cost Fishing Poll: $10-$20 Lighter: $1 Of course if you wait until the winter you could just slide across lake michigan.
